Tom Norman is a writer originally from Wyckoff, New Jersey, globally recognized for its mass exportation of Jonas Brothers and similar cargo.
The son of average suburbanites, he found escape from the crushing sameness of early 2000s America through the works of Shane Black and Jenji Kohan. Inspired to become a rule-breaking screenwriter, he dedicated himself to learning the rules so that he might break them more fully and artistically. To this end, he earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Penn State, where he made stylish and inscrutable films. Forced to sell his soul as a Campaign Staffer in order to repay mammoth student loans, he turned his attention to screenwriting, hand-scribing his first feature-length screenplay during Congressional Recess.
That script wasn’t very good. However, his second script, SILK, turned out great. Telling the true story of the creation of the Dark Web’s most notorious black market, The Silk Road, and the rise and fall of its founder, Ross Ulbricht.
As a screenwriter, he’s worked with the producers of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Workaholics. He has also written for Vice, The Daily Brew, The Matador Review, The Shield, The Dissolve, and Kalliope. He’s previously acted as a Contributing Editor for Fansided.com, a sports news website.
He’s currently developing several pilots and is still trying to rationalize why he must write this in the third person.
